The Inselspital in Bern, one of Switzerland’s leading university hospitals, stands out for its contemporary architecture with strongly structured façades. The project follows a demanding environmental approach, certified by the MINERGIE-P-ECO label, and develops an architectural envelope where materiality and relief fully contribute to the building’s identity.
For this large-scale project, Rebeton designed and manufactured all ACRYTHERM® mineral slabs used for the external façade cladding, representing a total surface area of approximately 13,000 m². The elements were produced using bespoke matrices, enabling a wide variety of undulations and forms that animate the façade and interact with light.
The fabrication includes monolithic corner elements, ensuring continuity of the patterned motif across the entire envelope. Some slabs reach large vertical formats of up to 5 meters, reinforcing the building’s vertical expression while reducing the number of joints.
This project illustrates Rebeton’s ability to deliver large-scale bespoke mineral façades, combining environmental performance, technical innovation, and architectural quality.
