Designed to welcome students in a contemporary and legible environment, the Aimé Césaire College in Vaulx-en-Velin features a sober yet dynamic architecture, where the composition of the façades plays a central role in the building’s identity. The white volumes are punctuated by protruding coloured frames that structure the elevations and add a strong graphic dimension to the overall design.

In this context, Rebeton designed and manufactured ACRYTHERM® mineral slabs in anthracite with a stone finish, installed in a vertical orientation. The slabs clad both the base and upper parts of the building, creating a framing effect that structures the façades and enhances the perception of the volumes.

The mineral base forms a robust and enduring plinth, adapted to the functional demands of a school facility. At the upper levels, the anthracite slabs highlight the architectural composition and create a strong contrast with the lighter façades, emphasizing the colorful elements that animate the project.

The custom fabrication ensures precise alignments, continuity of lines, and high-quality finishes across the entire envelope. With their mineral texture and deep color, the slabs contribute to the building’s identity while meeting the durability and low-maintenance requirements typical of educational facilities.

This project demonstrates Rebeton’s ability to support public facility developments by providing bespoke mineral solutions that combine architectural quality, robustness, and long-term durability.
